On the authority of Yahweh's Holy Bible and His calling upon my life, I am an Israeli pastor, which means that my view of the books of Zecharia Sitchin is ever qualified by the question, How do all his amazing revelations from out of Sumerian and other ancient texts relate to Yehovaw's Holy Bible, the King James version of which I have studied for thirty-four years and in which I have found the key to my personal comfort and joy, strength and salvation?
I can assure you, up front, that, when you have read my report on Zecharia Sitchin's life's work and even when you may have read all of his fascinating and enlightening books, you undoubtedly will have a vastly improved understanding of the background of Yahovaw's Holy Bible and an appreciation of its authority in the affairs of mankind! I have long felt that the wonder of creation, of which you and I are amazing parts, together with the sense of person that you and I enjoy, not only justifies but demands the existence of a Creator Who not only has created and continues to sustain the universe but is a Person with the same consciousness of self and loving attributes that we cherish in ourselves!
Since Yahovaw's Holy Bible is the only book I know about that claims to be the word of such a personal Creator through His prophets and since its wisdom rings true in my heart, I have with great zeal studied that bible for the last thirty-four years and taught it, as the answer to all that one could possibly need or want!
That sufficiency and fulfillment being mine in the knowledge about Yehovaw that His Holy Bible has given me, I have necessarily become captive to Zecharia Sitchin's work; because it has given me an amazing understanding of many things in that bible that had remained a mystery to me and to countless other of its scholars! And by diligent study into Mr. Sitchin's writings, I have discovered that the bible in which I had found such wisdom had been the wisdom as well of the astounding people about whom Mr. Sitchin has given us a new knowledge and appreciation!
In the book of Genesis of the Old Testament of Yahovaw's Holy Bible, in its record of events prior to the Great Flood, one can find this interesting statement:
1It came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the Earth and daughters were born unto them, 2that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair! And they took them wives of all whom they chose! (Genesis 6:1 and 2)
If I have learned anything from Zecharia Sitchin, it is that the original Hebrew of the Old Testament is critical to know! For the King James translaters were woefully ignorant of certain matters, which ignorance was then reflected in their questionable choices of English words to represent the original ones!
The word "God", when viewed in the original Hebrew, is "Elohiym" (Strong: Hebrew: 430), which means, literally, "Gods"! It is in the plural! And that fact is ignored, where it should not be, much of the time!
The expression "the Lord thy God" (Genesis 27:20) includes the word "Elohiym" but is preceded by "Yehovaw" (Strong: Hebrew: 3068), pronounced "Yaweh", by Mr. Sitchin and his Jewish brethren, which means "eternal" and "self-existent"! (3068)
So the title the Lord thy God" (Genesis 27:20) appears not to deny in the Hebrew the existence of "gods" but simply focuses upon Who is to be regarded as "thy" God in the place of all the other gods, as He addressed His word to His people, the children of Israel!
In many places in Yahovaw's Holy Bible one finds the title given Him of "Lord God", the "God" part of it still being "Elohiym" (Strong: Hebrew: 430) or "gods"! So, as we do in our idiom, that expression of title for the Almighty appears to be a shortened form that leaves out the essential clarifying words "self-existent eternal" God, who is to be your God among all the other gods available!
From Sitchin's writing we learn that the existence of all the other gods came about by a natural regard among mankind for the members of a superior and highly developed race of people who, living far longer than they, powerfully dominated their affairs!
Getting back to the above statement in the bible (Genesis 6:2), we find that we are looking at the sons of gods taking "the daughters of men" (Verse 2) for wives, which gives rise to the question, Who were these "sons of gods"? Without realizing it, we meet these people presently, when Yehovaw's recorder writes:
There were giants in the Earth in those days! (Genesis 6:4)
Again being careful about the original Hebrew, one finds that the word "giants" is a King James translation of the Hebrew "nef-eel' " (Strong: Hebrew: 5303), which means "feller, that is, a bully or tyrant (5303) - or at least, that is James Strong's version of the word.
As a boy well versed in the Hebrew language, Mr. Stitchin understood the Hebrew word underlying the word "giant" to be "nephelim"! And he wrote of a problem to which that understanding led:
As a young schoolboy studying Genesis in its original Hebrew ... I created a confrontation ... We were reading one day in Chapter VI that when God resolved to destroy Mankind by the Great Flood "the sons of the deities", who married the daughters of men, were upon the Earth. The Hebrew original named them Nefilim; and the teacher explained that it meant "giants"; but I objected: didn't it mean literally "those Who were cast down" , who descended to Earth? I was reprimanded and told to accept the traditional interpretation. ("The Twelvth Planet", Avon Books, Page vii)
That "confrontation" shaped the adult years of Zecharia Sitchin's life! And he spent them endeavoring to prove that, indeed, the "Nefilim" of the Old Testament were those "who descended to Earth", which then opened up a flood of questions about who the Nefilim were, how they happened to come to Earth, from where they came, what they did when they got here, how those doings relate to us and why we don't see the Nefilim today!
The most intriguing question is: How did Sitchin prove any such thing? He explained:
The rendering of Sumarian, Assyrian, Babylonian, and Hittite texts has engaged a legion of scholars for more than a century. ("The Twelvth Planet", Avon Books, Page vi)
Archeological finds and the deciphering of Sumerian, Babylonian, Assyrian, Hittite, Cannaanite and other Ancient Texts and epic tales increasingly confirmed the accuracy of the biblical references to the kingdom, cities, rulers, places, temples, trade routes, artifacts, tools and customs of antiquity. ("The Twelvth Planet", Avon Books, Page vii)
From the astounding texts that this "legion of scholars" brought to the attention of their generation, amazing stories about the Nefilim were interpreted as "myths"; because those entrusted with the translation of those texts could not absorb the idea that they were reading about a people who actually did desend to Earth, the scholars knowing perfectly well, that, should they grant any truth to such myths, as they were being revealed, relentlessly, on hundreds of clay tablets, from all the mentioned civilizations, along with the inscriptions on their stone monuments, they would have to start answering the questions I have enumerated! And the prospect of getting involved in any such acceptance of the texts as actual ancient history threatened their standing as sane and sensible scholars of their Age!
So we are particularly indebted to Zecharia Sitchin for having the audacious courage, come what may, to call that astounding and growing depository of information about the earliest and most ancient events on Earth the truth that he found it to be and for tirelessly working to present its essence to you and me, for our enlightenment! He asked:
Is it not now time ... to accept the word of these same ancient records regarding the Nefilim as visitors to Earth from the heavens? ("The Twelvth Planet", Avon Books, Page vii)
Challenging questions about whom one should be believing and serving inevitably follows his or her exposure to this astounding truth, which can be a disturbing experience, if the initiate is not prepared or guided to see how the new truth simply confirms and enlarges upon the old and what we should be doing about it; and that is what I want to accomplish on this website, by sharing with you, my beloved visitor, what I have done about it, which I will diligently endeavor to do, in relation to each of Mr. Sitchin's wonderful revelations!
